Skin Aging

A range of dermo-cosmetic products for skincare.

The graph shows the relationship between age and the body's synthesis of elastin and collagen.

COLLAGEN is synthesized (produced) by the body up to the age of 60. There is absolutely no need to supplement the skin with collagen. Nature itself looks after that.

ELASTIN is synthesized (produced) by the body from the embryonic stage but reaches its maximum at the end of adolescence decreasing from age 25 - 30 and stopping altogether by age 40 - 45 years.

During a conference on dermo-chemistry, Professor H. BOUISSON explained how the physiological ageing process was associated with a progressive loss of elastin in the dermis and arteries. In fact, the biological age of a person can be histologically estimated on a skin biopsy by means of the quantity of elastin fibers contained in the dermis - the state of the arteries may also be deduced as the degradation of the elastic fibers spreads simultaneously in the skin and the blood vessels.

This decrease or stopping of the elastin synthesis adds to the breakdown of the elastic fibers due to lipid and calcium deposits.

The concomitance of both phenomena:

  • the inhibition or stopping of elastin synthesis,
  • the deterioration of the elastic fibers

leads to a progressive loss of skin elasticity and the appearance of wrinkles as skin ages.

Aging of the skin

The biological mechanism of cutaneous aging is characterized by an alteration of the derm with appearance of folds and wrinkles, sagging and relaxing of the cutaneous tissue.

The aging relating to AGE or INNATE AGING (physiological aging, cutaneous senescence)
The aging relating to the SUN or ACTINIC AGING (Heliodermatosis - Photo-induced actinic aging)
Innate aging:
Elastic fibers become looser and fibroblast (dermic cells) turns less active.

Actinic aging:
Appearance of keratinization and oxydative stress (free radicals), the cutaneous vascular network diminishes.
To generate the synthesis of new proteins
To combat the oxygenated free radicals
To increase the endothelial cells for better vascularization

Local treatment:
Stimulate cells metabolism with Bio-Peptides or KAPPAELASTIN + Vitamin E
